BOTH Northumberland home sides suffered the agony of the narrowest defeat possible in their Yehlex Inter-County Championship matches – namely 8-7. The first team entertained a resurgent Lothian, newlypromoted from Division Two having been relegated the season before and top of the league.
The seconds hosted Yorkshire fifths, always likely to be a tough encounter. The first-team ladies got North off to a good start, Sally Spendiff leading from the front as ever, and Katherine Gray coming from behind to secure victory in three sets.
Richard Eaton performed well against the current Scottish No 1, but could not quite force a third set, while Dave Shariff, substituting for the absent Adam Tingle, could not overcome the experienced Craig Lamb.
The seconds were struggling in the singles, despite a three-set effort from Amy Hall, but a good win from Victoria Brewis put North on the scoreboard at 3-1. The opening men’s doubles saw one of the best games of the day with Malcolm Lightbown and Dave Shariff unlucky to lose to Hoggan and Lamb in three, with each set going to the narrowest two point margin.
A strong performance from Andrew McGill and Eaton in the deciding set of their opener kept North in the hunt, as did a win for Sarah Renton and Katherine Gray to again leave the scores level at 4-4.
The seconds, meanwhile, had rallied strongly with Martin Fagan and Ian Lambert winning at top string and both ladies pairs taking wins to level their match score at 4-4. With the men unable to make headway in the reverse men’s doubles, despite yet another 22-20 set, North were indebted to the ladies in pulling them back level

An electric bike is an outstanding alternative to more conventional means of transportation. If you live or work in a densely populated area and have to frequently travel relatively short distances, if you want to do your part to reduce the emission of greenhouse gasses and reduce global warming, or if you simply enjoy being outdoors, owning an electric bike can serve your needs.Advantages of Owning an Electric BicycleElectric powered bikes are an easy way to maneuver around in crowded areas. With an electric bicycle, sitting in traffic jams will become a distant memory; you will have access to routes that cars and motorcycles cannot reach. Thus, whether you’re running errands or dashing off for a work meeting, an electric bike saves you time. Beyond convenience, you’ll also accumulate significant financial savings since you don’t have to pay for gasoline, car maintenance, and insurance. An electric bike is ideal for the person who has either lost their driver’s license or has no license, as it provides a reliable means of transportation without the licensing requirements. However, it’s the electric bike’s environmental friendliness that appeals to many electric motor bike owners. CO2 emissions are a source of concern to everyone, and an electric bike significantly reduces your personal carbon footprint. Electric Motor Bike for ExercisingIf you bicycle for exercise, you can be assured that an electric bicycle allows you to pedal, but with little effort. You can climb hills more easily and travel a longer distance than with a conventional bicycle. When compared to a stationary bicycle, an electric bike will still allow you to achieve your fitness goals, but provide the added benefits of feeling invigorated from riding in the fresh air and strengthening your muscles without making them ache.Electric Bicycles for WorkUsing your electric bike for commuting back and forth to work helps clear your mind and makes you feel good all day. When you ride your electric bike to work, you don’t have to worry about the excess perspiration, which can be an issue with a conventional bike on warm days. You move faster on the electric bike, which increases wind chill, thus keeping you cool. When the weather is hot, you maintain a normal speed by letting the electric motor take over

Birth control or contraception is essential in couples who want to enjoy sexual pleasure without the risk of unwanted pregnancies. In addition to this factor, frequent births may also damage the health of women and cause acute problems. In the past, women only rely on calculations based on menstrual cycles and withdrawal methods which are unreliable methods of birth control. Today, the choices for contraception have broadened and are designed not to interfere with their normal lifestyles. Options for contraception may include the use of intra-uterine device (IUD), diaphragm, spermicides, and hormonal aids which include pills, injections, and vaginal rings that contain synthetic hormones. Another method using oral birth control pills or simply “the pill” is one of the commonly used forms of contraception. If taken properly, these pills have a high percentage of preventing unwanted pregnancies

In the past ten years, GPS vehicle tracking has grown to cover practically every facet of our society. Generally used for business to track freight and people transportation fleets, GPS vehicle tracking is now becoming quite popular among families who are always on the go, especially with young drivers.
The latest GPS technology utilizes twenty-four Department of Defense satellites to record the location of a vehicle equipped with a GPS device. A system is setup to monitor all the vehicle’s activities in regards to times of departure, traveled routes, how fast (or slow) the vehicle was going, and the number of times the vehicle stopped and how long were those stops.
There are two different categories of tracking systems, passive and real-time. The passive GPS devices are able to store data within their memory system that can be downloaded later to a computer for analysis. Real-time, or active GPS vehicle tracking transmits the data of location, speed, and stop history at regular intervals for real-time analysis.
Passive systems are more popular with families since they are more affordable and are smaller and more convenient to use

On Track to Ship 3 Million Chips in 2009 Highlights Increased
Market and Product Leadership
FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Beceem Communications, the leading provider of 4G chip solutions,
announced today the launch of 4G Turbo, a number of Uplink performance
improvements to the companys industry-leading 4G WiMAX chips. The 4G
Turbo improvements further extend the performance of Beceems chips, and
the features can be used in any WiMAX network as they work with every
Wave 2-compliant 4G WiMAX base station.
The 4G Turbo improvements enhance network coverage and user experience,
especially at the cell edge and in areas of low signal strength. The
improvements provide Dual Antenna Transmit diversity for maximum uplink
performance under all signal conditions and deliver a gain of
approximately 2dB compared to 4G WiMAX products that are not
supercharged by Beceem. In addition, 4G Turbo enables a unique
network-entry boost mode that dramatically improves the likelihood of
successful network entry in areas where signal strength is too low for
other WiMAX products to connect to the network (typically at RSSI of
less than -90dB).
4G Turbo enables our products to further outperform competing solutions
with significant throughput and performance gains, especially at the
cell edge, where the added performance is needed the most, said Lars

Leading Industry Organizations Team Up to Coordinate Best Practices
for Cloud Security
LAS VEGAS — Distributed
Management Task Force (DMTF), the organization bringing the IT
industry together to collaborate on systems management standards
development, validation, promotion and adoption, today announced that it
will partner with the Cloud
Security Alliance (CSA) to promote standards for cloud security as
part of the ongoing work within the DMTF
Open Cloud Standards Incubator. The two groups will collaborate on
best practices for managing security within the cloud.
CSA is a non-profit organization, which was formed to promote the use of
best practices for providing security assurance within cloud computing,
and to educate the industry about the use of cloud computing to help
secure other forms of computing. CSAs membership comprises subject
experts from throughout the IT industry.
As DMTF develops its requirements for secure cloud management, it will
work with the CSA to utilize best practices and feedback to improve the
security, privacy and trust of cloud computing. Both organizations plan
to adopt appropriate existing standards, and assist and support
recognized bodies that are developing new standards appropriate for
cloud computing. Together they will promote a common level of
understanding between the consumers and providers of cloud computing
regarding necessary security. This partnership will help ensure
alignment within the cloud computing industry.
DMTF is excited to be partnering with CSA to encourage standards for
cloud security, said Winston Bumpus, DMTF president. The DMTF Open
Cloud Standards Incubator has identified security as a key area of focus
for standardization within the cloud. We believe this collaboration with
CSA will help improve upon and benefit all levels of cloud security
standards.
This partnership will enable the CSA and DMTF to continue leading the
industry in the development of interoperable standards for the cloud,
said Jim Reavis, Executive Director and Co-founder of the CSA. Both
organizations have exhibited expertise in cloud computing, making this a
unique opportunity for establishing industry standards, and coordinating
requirements and best practices.
The partnership between DMTF and CSA was established as part of the DMTF

CHICAGO, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Each year in the United States an estimated 2,800 children age 14 or younger are injured and 850 are killed in residential fires according to the U.S. Fire Administration. To help address this important issue, Chicago Children’s Museum (CCM), the Chicago Fire Department and The Allstate Foundation today unveiled The Allstate Foundation Presents Play It Safe–a new permanent exhibit that encourages children and families to step into the shoes of a firefighter for a day and explore fire safety through imaginative play.
“As we enter the winter months when fires in the home are more frequent, this is the perfect time to unveil the revitalized Play It Safeexhibit,” said Vicky Dinges, assistant vice president, Allstate Insurance Company. “Allstate’s support of Play It Safebrings to life our ongoing commitment to foster safe communities. We’re so proud of this exhibit because it gives children and families realistic, fun, hands-on, playful ways to better understand fire safety and help prevent unnecessary injuries or deaths.”
Inspired by visits to real Chicago firehouses and developed in collaboration with the Chicago Fire Department, the new Play It Safeexhibit features an authentic-looking firehouse where children and families can take calls and dispatch trucks at a command center, dress up like a firefighter, slide down a fire pole, sound the siren in a fire truck and practice escaping a “smoke-filled” room in the “Get Low and Go” bedroom
